The perfect family day out.

The Cairngorms National Park has several beautiful lochs to visit during your stay with us. Head to Loch Morlich, probably the most well known in the area, for stunning views of the Cairngorms, sandy beaches and plenty of activities including walking and kayaking. If you’re looking for somewhere with a bit of history why not visit Loch an Eilein? Located in Rothiemurchus Estate, the impressive ruined castle in the middle of Loch an Eilein is said to have been owned by Alexander Stewart, the Wolf of Badenoch, who was the great-grandson of Robert the Bruce.

Adventurers should head to Uath Lochans. These four lochs surrounded by Glen Feshie make a great base camp for your expeditions. Starting from the car park at Uath Lochans, the 4km walk to Farleitter Crag is more than worth the breathtaking views. Get swept up in the magic of Scottish myths at An Lochan Uaine. According to legends, the deep green colour of the water here is said to have come from the clothes of the nearby fairies. Perfect for the whole family, from a relaxing stroll to a full day’s hiking - just remember to watch out for the fairies.

When it comes to watersports you’ll be spoilt for choice in Aviemore and the Cairngorms.

For a meditative outdoor activity, consider a spot of fishing at Rothiemurchus. From seasoned fly fishers to beginners, the fishing centre is a great family day out, and if you’re unsure the instructors will be more than happy to help guide you.

For the adrenaline junkies, there’s loads to do. Experience gorge walking or canyoning surrounded by stunning scenery and waterfalls. Or why not try your hand at white water rafting? Start off on one of the gently flowing rivers or jump into the deep end on one of the white water rapids.

If you prefer something in between, we’ve got you covered. There’s kayaking, canoeing and SUPing on Loch Morlich and on Glenmore - or you could simply stay on the resort and take a refreshing dip in our pool.

Rothiemurchus Estate offers a whole host of exciting outdoor activities. The estate has something for the whole family including archery and wildlife photography. If you’re looking for something more exhilarating try pony trekking or quad bike trekking.

The Mystical Green Loch

We can’t recommend this one enough. Legend has it that the loch gets it’s green colour from the fairies washing their clothes. It’s a beautiful walk and the green waters are simply beautiful.
